Green neon shirts flooded the stands in the gym Tuesday night in support of the girls varsity Volleyball game against Tomball Memorial. This night was the annual Magnolia Junior High night and the screams from the fans for the win were high.
Abby Giles, junior, was the dig leader with thirty-one against the Wildcats. Talent such as Giles who was named player of the week from the Houston Chronicle is understandable.
“We have been coached really well this year,” Maddie Jones, senior said.
Makenna McNulty, junior, held her own with two aces and twelve kills making her the kill leader and an ace leader for the Mustangs.
“She [McNulty] brings the energy. She is definitely a leader,” Jones said.
The senior believes that “team unity” and how “well we work together” has created a well rounded team which has high hopes of winning district this season.
Another ace leader contributing another two to the win for Magnolia West was Hannah Shinn, sophomore, who had nine kills and almost overtook the lead from McNulty.
Talent surrounds the volleyball team because Kaitlyn McDonald,junior, also contributed nine kills to the district game win.
Fighting hard to keep the team in the lead, freshmen Cora English contributes eleven kills making her a kill leader as well.
Jennifer Stanaland, senior, with twenty-four assists and Candance Gordon, junior, with a total of twenty-one assists.
Taylor Smith, junior, became the block leader with her four assist blocks.
The Mustangs Ladies play Tomball Friday at 6:00 p.m.at home.
“I am predicting a win, it should be a good game,” McNulty said.
