Track Season is Underway

The track team begins its’ season with hard work and determination. The team is made up of a lot of great potential athletes who want to be successful this year.
Coach Tim McGuire has set a goal to be district champs as a team and is on the way to achieving that goal. Diet is one way the team can help themselves become better prepared for meets.
Watching their diets does not mean cutting caloric intake. This means eating lots of fruits and vegetables.
“Carbohydrates are not the enemy,” McGuire said.
McGuire tells his team to eat good carbohydrates, such as bread and pasta, fish, beans, chicken and to only eat red meat ever so often.
Members of the different events such as sprinters, throwers, jumpers, and vaulters all are absolutely stupendous, according to Coach.
In order to become better at your event, apply your force directly under your center of gravity and keep your chest up. Before every practice and meet every single one of the track members run their drills which consists of 800 meters, but they must also do warm up stretches to prepare for the meet.
“Don’t ask what we are doing,” track members said, as they practice their drills to improve their strength.
The stress is not just on the players but the coaches as well.
“I wake up in the middle of the night thinking about if i have put the right person in the right event, or if it was a good decision to put some people on Varsity or in the JV team.” Coach McGuire said. “Everyone is stressed out the night before, but amped up the next morning. They are ready to go. This season is going to be a good one.”
Amazing sprinters as well as soaring pole vaulters, the throwers are starting this season as dark horses and the jumpers are doing great!
The team is going down the right track this season and plans to rise higher than last year.
“I love you, I’m proud of you, now go get cleaned up,” McGuire said.
