The Mustang swim team met their success at the district meet in late January, with boys placing fourth and girls placing third. although the team put forth full effort, they faced struggles in the district meet which prevented them from winning.  Several swimmers did advance to regionals for a chance to compete at the state championship.

Magnolia West is able to send fifteen individuals to the regional swim meet in College Station, Texas. This swim meet, hosted at the Texas A&M student recreation center, on February 6th and 7th.

Coach Jeremy Wade has been very successful with the swim program with Magnolia West, competing in regionals since 2006.

“We have represented Magnolia West at the Region Championship ever since the school has opened.” Coach Wade said.

This time last year the team had four girls advance to state after the 2014 regional meet.

“I have no doubt West will be well represented again this year at state!” Wade said.

The Mustangs found themselves competing in one of their best district meets in the team history. “Although we didn’t win the team title this year, the ratio of improvement was extraordinary. The time drops were very impressive,” Coach said.

Coach Wade credits the hard work each swimmer exerts by practicing and pushing their teammates to become better.

“At this time we are healthy and looking forward to the rest of our season,” Wade said.
